Every Terramist creation begins with a thought, not a template. For the Windswept series, the challenge was unique: How do you sculpt the wind itself?
The concept sketches focused on the ‘Fukinagashi’ style—a bonsai form that depicts a tree struggling against a prevailing wind. We didn’t want a tree that looked weak; we wanted one that looked triumphant. The sketches focused on the drag of the branches and the tension in the trunk mapping out a flow that leads the eye from the heavy, grounded roots to the delicate, flying tips. It is a study of balance, proving that grace often comes from resistance.
